MANN CHIA

Principal Speech Therapist

Mann has extensive experience working across the acute hospital setting, rehabilitation as well as community care.  Her experience spans across the ages from neonatal and school-age children, to the adults and geriatric population.

Through her years of experience working in major acute hospitals in Singapore, Mann developed her expertise in the areas of infant feeding, swallowing (dysphagia) management, adult speech and language interventions as well as cognitive-communication rehabilitation.

Mann’s clinical interest and specialisation is in the areas of feeding across the ages.  She has experience working in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and high dependency wards managing preterm and term babies with breast and bottle feeding difficulties.  She has successfully weaned many infants off their feeding tubes.

She is also trained in orofacial myology and is training to be a lactation consultant. She uses a blend of these techniques and strategies to facilitate effective breast/bottle feeding to support normal oral development in infants.

Mann believes that the key to better outcomes is through forming a strong therapeutic alliance with client-centred goals that work towards holistic and functional outcomes. She hopes that by working together with her clients and their family/caregivers, she can support them to achieve their best potential through implementing practical strategies that integrates seamlessly into their routines.

Mann is proficient in both English and Mandarin, and is comfortable delivering sessions in both languages.

In her free time, Mann enjoys experimenting with one-pot recipes for her family and spending time with her dog, Bear.
