Rebecca received her Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology from the University of Sydney, Australia. She is licensed by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) and is a certified practising member of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
As a speech and language therapist, Rebecca’s work with both paediatric and adult populations is grounded in a evidence-based, client-centered model of care wherein she hopes to support individuals to reach their full potential. She also continually seeks further development of her clinical skills by participating in peer discussion, clinical supervision and attending professional development/training workshops.
Rebecca’s expertise includes a wide range of clinical experiences in the public hospital, school and private clinic settings in both Australia and Singapore. She is competent in the assessment and management of adults living with swallowing and communication disorders including aphasia, apraxia and dysarthria as a result of stroke/TBI or medically complex conditions in the medical setting. She is also experienced in evaluating and treating children of all ages with language disorders, but her primary interest lies in working with children with ASD. Rebecca also has a special interest in working with children who are picky eaters, and is a certified SOS trained feeding therapist.
Aside from direct therapy, Rebecca has spent many years volunteering with families of children with autism to provide respite care, which allowed her to experience firsthand the difficulties and struggles these children and families face, outside of the clinic.
Rebecca believes in the huge and often, underestimated impact of communication difficulties on every client – child or adult – and their family. She is committed to making therapy functional and relevant to help them better their communicative abilities to participate better in activities in their daily life. She also aspires to empower the most important people in clients’ lives – families, and giving them the confidence they need to connect and engage with their child/family member and strategies to facilitate communication in the most natural setting – home.
Rebecca brings a positive and warm demeanour to sessions, and truly values her relationship with each of her clients and their families. She believes in keeping therapy fun and that your child should enjoy coming to therapy. Her creative therapeutic approaches have been successful in engaging children and maximising their progress in therapy.
