NIKITA CHANDRAN
Lead Early Intervention Teacher
Niki graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic with a Diploma in Nursing in 2013 and completed her advance diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic/National Institute of Early Childhood Development in 2019. She also volunteered in the 8th ASEAN Para Games before she completed her advance diploma. This event gave her the opportunity to work with people with different disabilities as she was part of the work force.
Niki gained her experience as an Early Interventionist for 8 years at Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) – Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Child (EIPIC) Department, where she worked with a diverse group of children who has communication, learning and behavioural challenges. She has also gained much knowledge in working with various allied health professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapist, Physiotherapists to improve her practice in the pediatric field.
Over the years, Niki has received training in various workshops and certifications such as Certificate in Autism, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Music Strategies to Support Learning & Social-Emotional Wellbeing in the Special Education and working in a transdisciplinary team.
She strongly believes that change is constant and the willingness to do so is important. Thus, she continuously tries to keep herself updated with new experiences and opportunities in the field of special education and puts them into practice with her clients. She is a staunch advocate of neurodivergent people, and she enjoys working closely with clients, their families as well as their teachers to facilitate the child’s overall development.
Niki is fluent in English and Malay.
